Post at a Glance!
A faith-based self-compassion guide for nurse moms who constantly pour into others. Learn how to stop self-neglect, set loving boundaries, and prioritize your well-being with this simple 7-day life audit and prayer plan.
Hey Sis!
Are you ready for another amazing week? Because I am.
Before we dive in, let’s pause and celebrate something special … Black History Month. You are history in the making. Your strength, your faith, your resilience, your motherhood, your career… it all matters. And to our allies walking beside us, thank you. It truly takes a village.
Now let’s talk heart-to-heart.
This week (honestly, this whole month), we’re focusing on something many of us struggle with but rarely talk about: Self-compassion.
Especially as Nurse Moms.
Somewhere along the way, we learned how to show up for everybody else (our patients, our kids, our families, our coworkers) but forgot how to show up for ourselves.
And even worse?
We started calling ourselves selfish for having needs.
Sis… that’s backwards.
God never asked us to run on empty.
You cannot pour from a dry cup.
Verse for the Week!
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Mark 12:31(NIV)
Notice it says as yourself.
Not instead of yourself.
Not after everyone else.
But alongside.
Your care matters too!
The 7-Day Self-Compassion Reset
We’re keeping this simple and realistic.. because we already have enough on our plates.
Days 1–2: Life Audit
Don’t change your routine yet.
Just observe.
Write down:
- When you put someone else first
- What you needed in that moment
- How it made you feel (tired, resentful, joyful, overwhelmed, peaceful)
No judgment. Just awareness.
Day 3–4: Spot the Pattern
Look over your notes.
Ask yourself:
- Where am I constantly overextending?
- What drains me the most?
- Where do I feel unseen or unsupported?
Then ask:
“How can I pivot, even a little?”
Small shifts count.
Days 5–7: Apply Gently
Now we practice.
Maybe that looks like:
- Saying “not today” without guilt
- Taking your full lunch break
- Going to bed earlier
- Asking for help
- Taking 15 minutes alone with God
- Choosing rest over pressure
You don’t have to change everything overnight.
We’re building consistency, not perfection.
Celebrate your wins.
Reflect when things don’t go right.
And try again tomorrow.
Grace over guilt, always.
Sis, before you can pour into others, you have to take care of yourself first.
Not because you’re selfish.
But because you’re human.
And deeply loved.
Let’s do this together.
Prayer for this Week
Father God,
Thank You for the gift of serving others, but remind me that I matter too. Teach me to care for myself the way You care for me — with gentleness, grace, and compassion. Help me release guilt and embrace rest. Give me wisdom to set healthy boundaries and courage to honor my needs. Restore my energy, renew my spirit, and root me in Your peace this week.
Amen.
With Love,
Sanjé
