Post at a Glance:
Practical, faith-based self-care tips for nurse moms who do it all. This is your safe space for real talk, encouragement, and simple ways to refill your cup…because you deserve it too, sis.
Life has been Lifing
Whew… it’s been about three weeks since my last post, and let me tell you…life has been lifing.
And honestly? It reminded me of a few things:
- Life is short
- We all need help sometimes
- And kindness will always matter
But here’s the part that really sat with me this week…
Everything I’ve been pouring into my “toolbox”—my faith, my habits, my boundaries..it actually worked!!!
Now don’t get me wrong, it didn’t make life magically disappear (because where they do that at? ), but it DID help me:
- process my emotions
- bounce back quicker
- cope in a healthy way
And for that? We’re calling it a win-win!
Let’s Talk About It: Self-Care for the Nurse Mom
Sis, you already know…we are built different. Rooted and resilient, okay?!
At work?
A patient starts crashing and BOOM….super nurse activated.
At home?
You’re running errands, feeding the kids, cleaning, doing laundry… and then you finally sit down like:
“Wait… how did I just do ALL of that?”
It’s unreal.
But let me ask you something…
What About YOU?
Not the nurse.
Not just “mom.”
YOU.
At Work…Are You Showing Up for Yourself?
- Are you packing meals, snacks, and drinks that actually nourish you?
- Are you taking a real break (like stepping away and letting your mind breathe?)
- Are you giving yourself time to get ready so you don’t start your shift already drained?
At Home… Are You Pouring Into Yourself Too?
- Do you rest before you’re completely exhausted?
- Do you ever sit down and actually enjoy the home you work so hard to maintain?
Because let’s be real…
It does something to me when I see moms creating a beautiful home for everyone else…but never getting to enjoy it themselves.
Sis, that ends here!!!!
Soft Life Moments (Yes, Even at Home)
On your days off, how are you showing up for yourself?
Me personally?
I’m not staying in the same pajamas all day (no judgment though, do you boo).
I’m getting up, throwing on something cute and comfy, doing a simple fresh face, a little lip gloss…
because I deserve to feel good too.
Real Talk Moment
Life is hard.
Motherhood? Ghetto sometimes.
Work? Necessary… but let’s not even get into that LOL.
But if we’re going to keep showing up for everyone else,
we have to start showing up for ourselves…on purpose.
Practical Self-Care Tips for This Week
Home Life Reset
1. Wake Up 30 Minutes Earlier
Spend that time with God, in prayer, journaling, or just sitting in peace.
Nobody needs you at that hour. Not the kids, not the house…
that time is yours.
2. Stop Waiting for “Perfect” to Clean
Set a timer. Clean for a set amount of time. When it’s done….STOP.
Sit down. Rest. Enjoy your space.
A little every day goes a long way.
3. Show Up for Yourself Daily
Whether you’re going to the store, staying home, or just stepping outside..
show up how YOU want to feel.
Because if you’re spending all that time getting ready for work…
for people who are minding their own business anyway…
Sis… we need to redirect that energy.
Do it for YOU.
(And if full glam every day is your thing? I support you….just don’t forget to double cleanse)
Work Life Reset
1. Arrive Early, Not Rushed
“Early is on time, on time is late.”
Even if it’s just sitting in your car for a few minutes..
that slow transition into your shift?
Game changer.
2. Take Your Break. For Real.
Eat your food. Sit down. Step away.
You deserve a moment to breathe.
3. Romanticize Your Shift (Just a Little)
A cute water bottle. A good pen. A playlist?
Baby… it makes a difference.
I used to play music low during my shift, and no matter how crazy things got…
when “Happy” by Pharrell Williams came on?
I couldn’t even stay mad LOL
Leaving You with this Sis!
Sis, you pour into so many people every single day.
Your patients.
Your children.
Your home.
But don’t forget…
You deserve that same care, that same intention, that same love.
So this week?
We’re choosing ourselves……without guilt.
I hope this filled your cup just a little.
Until next time…
Stay safe, stay rooted, and take care of YOU, sis!
With Love,
Sanjé
