Let’s Get Started!
Let me address the big elephant in the room… where have I been?
Girllll.
Life has been LIFE-ING.
These weeks are moving so fast I feel like I have emotional whiplash. Between being a mom, working as a nurse, taking care of family, and trying to keep myself sane, I had to put the brakes on and focus on my well-being.
And honestly? It was needed.
Everyone is doing well, and I thank God for that.
But this little break reminded me of something that I think all of us nurse moms need to hear:
You cannot pour from an empty cup, Sis!
And if I know anything about us, we will run on fumes, if we are not careful.
The World Is Wild Right Now
I do not know about you, but the world feels like a lot.
Life is expensive.
Schedules are packed.
Kids are hungry every 10 minutes.
Patients are patient-ing.
And social media has everybody looking like they are living their best soft life.
Meanwhile, you are just trying to remember if you drank water today.
Whew.
But here is the good news.
GOD is still in control. #hallelujah
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Sis, rest is not laziness.
Rest is necessary.
Rest is holy.
Is It Just Me, or Does This Time of Year Have Everybody in Their Feelings?
Something about this season will have you questioning your whole life.
Graduations.
Weddings.
Baby announcements.
Promotions.
Dream vacations.
House closings.
And before you know it, you are scrolling and thinking:
- Lord, am I behind?
- Why does everyone seem to be winning but me?
- When is my turn?
- What am I doing wrong?
If you have felt that way, pull up a chair.
You are in good company.
Quick Disclaimer, Sis!
I am not a therapist or mental health counselor.
I am just your nurse mom bestie sharing what has helped me.
Please take what you need and leave the rest.
And let me say this clearly: therapy is a blessing.
If you have been struggling, I highly encourage you to talk to a licensed therapist.
Many insurance plans cover therapy, some providers offer income-based pricing, and your employer may have free sessions through EAP.
There is something powerful about talking to someone who is neutral and trained to help you sort through your feelings.
Asking for help is strength, not weakness.
Comparison Will Have You Feeling Broke, Behind, and Bothered
Let us keep it real.
Nursing can feel competitive.
Someone is becoming a nurse practitioner.
Someone is launching a business.
Someone is working PRN and making twice as much.
Someone is traveling the world in cute airport outfits.
And here you are trying to make it to soccer practice and fold that same basket of laundry that has been staring at you for three days.
Sis, abundance looks different for everyone.
What Abundance Looks Like for Me
At this stage of my life, abundance is not about doing the most.
It is about having:
- Quiet time with God
- Quality time with my family
- Meaningful work
- Space to rest
- Time to create
- Peace of mind
That is wealth to me.
For someone else, abundance may look like a luxury car or seven streams of income.
And that is okay.
The real question is:
What does abundance look like to you?
Comparison Is Usually Trying to Tell You Something
When you find yourself comparing, it often means there is a desire in your heart that needs attention.
Maybe you want:
- More flexibility
- More income
- More peace
- More creativity
- More family time
- More confidence
And that is not a bad thing.
Comparison can be a clue.
It is an invitation to get honest about what matters most to you.
Get Clear on Your Core Values
When you know your values, you stop chasing everybody else’s goals.
Ask yourself:
- What matters most to me right now?
- What kind of life do I want to build?
- What do I want my child to remember about me?
- What is God asking me to focus on in this season?
When your life aligns with your values, you will feel more grounded and less distracted.
The Sacrifices You Are Making Matter
Maybe you are not picking up extra shifts because you want to be home for bedtime.
Maybe you turned down an opportunity to protect your peace.
Maybe your dream is taking longer because you are healing and raising a family at the same time.
Sis, hear me when I say this:
That is not failure.
That is wisdom.
That is intentional.
That is purpose.
Ways to Fill Your Cup This Week ☕
Nothing fancy.
Just simple things that make a big difference.

- Book the therapy appointment.

God’s Timing Is Still Perfect

Sis, you are not behind.
You are being prepared.
God is working in places you cannot see.

A Prayer for the Nurse Mom Who Feels Stuck 🙏🏾
God,
Thank You for meeting me in every overwhelming season. Help me to stop comparing myself to others and trust the path You have for me. Teach me to rest, protect my peace, and care for the life You have given me. Remind me that I am not behind and that Your timing is perfect. Fill my cup until it overflows.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Until Next Time!
Sis, if life has been life-ing and you feel overwhelmed, behind, or just plain tired, this is your reminder:
You are doing better than you think.
You are not behind.
You are not forgotten.
You are not failing.
God is still writing your story.
Take care of yourself.
Protect your peace.
Trust God’s timing.
And keep filling your cup.
Your breakthrough will come right on time.
Share With Your Nurse Mom Bestie
If this encouraged you, send it to another nurse mom who needs a reminder to slow down and refill her cup.
And tell me in the comments:
What is one way you are filling your cup this week?
With love,
Sanjé
