Faith-based journaling prompts to help single moms, nurses, and survivors of domestic abuse process pain, build resilience, and rediscover their purpose.
Hey sis! I’m Sanje, the proud creator of Rooted & Resilient—your Christian cheerleader in this busy season of motherhood, nursing, and healing. I’ve been a nurse since 2016 and a mom just as long. From working in correctional facilities to now sitting at the table with hospital directors, my journey has been anything but linear. And let me be real: healing hasn’t been linear either.
If you are a single mama, a registered nurse, and a survivor of domestic abuse—this post is for YOU. This season might feel heavy, but you are not walking it alone. One of the most healing things I’ve done is put pen to paper and let my heart speak.
Let’s talk about journaling for healing and how these 7 prompts can help you find clarity, release pain, and hear from God in ways you didn’t even know you needed.
Let’s Talk Graduation Season
Before we dive in, I have to take a moment to shout out all my graduates! Whether you’re graduating from nursing school, completing a bridge program, or cheering on your baby from the stands—I see you. This season is such a reminder that your time is coming too. Every cap and gown you see is proof that the journey is worth it. And if you’re still in the thick of it? Let that motivate you, not discourage you.
Graduation season also tends to stir up a lot of feelings—especially if you’re still waiting for your turn. Maybe you’re asking, When will it be me? Sis, that’s valid. And that’s why this blog post is right on time. These journal prompts will help you sit with that question, bring it to God, and keep walking forward with faith.
🕊️ 7 Faith-Filled Journal Prompts to Help You Heal
- “God, where am I still hurting?”
Invite the Holy Spirit into this moment. Let Him show you places you’ve buried or ignored.“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3 (NIV) - “What does safety look like for me today?”
Explore what it means to feel safe emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Define your boundaries.“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.” – 2 Samuel 22:2 (NIV) - “What am I proud of myself for surviving?”
Acknowledge your strength. Honor the version of you that kept going.“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect.” – 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NIV) - “What lies am I still believing about myself?”
Call out false beliefs and rewrite them with God’s truth.“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32 (NIV) - “What do I want my child to learn from my healing?”
Reflect on the legacy you’re building—not just for you, but for your babies.“Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) - “What would I say to my younger self?”
Write a love letter to the girl who didn’t know better but did her best.“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” – Proverbs 31:25 (NIV) - “God, what do You want me to believe about this season?”
Ask for revelation. Let God speak into your situation and remind you of His plan.“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
A Prayer for You, Sis
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the woman reading this right now. Thank You for the way You’ve carried her through every trial and every storm. I pray she feels seen and loved in this moment. Help her release what she’s been holding inside and trust You with her healing. Remind her that her story doesn’t end in brokenness, but in beauty, strength, and purpose. Bless her journaling, her motherhood, her nursing journey, and her heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Until Next Week!
Sis, if no one told you today—I’m proud of you. Healing takes courage. Graduation season may be here, but your breakthrough season is coming too. If this blessed you, share it with another sister who needs encouragement.
