Birthday Countdown: Reflecting on the Woman I’ve Become

Hey Sis,

We’re kicking off my birthday week, and whew, I can’t believe I’m about to turn 31! This milestone has me reflecting on the wins of my 30s so far. Sis, let me tell you, the glow-up isn’t just external—it’s internal, too. The lessons, the growth, the boundaries… it’s all coming together. Let me share a few gems that have been absolute game-changers for me.

Learning to Say No and Creating Boundaries

One of my biggest wins has been learning how to create and establish boundaries. Sis, I can’t be everything to everyone, and trying to do so almost had me out here running on E. Setting boundaries taught me that my peace is priceless.

Let me give you an example: I turned off notifications on my phone. Game. Changer. This small move put me back in control. I don’t let my phone dictate my day—I check it on my time. No more jumping at every ding, ping, or email alert. When I’m present, I’m fully present, and that simple boundary has brought me so much peace.

So, Sis, if you haven’t already, try it. Your mental health will thank you.

Systems Over Goals: The Atomic Habits Life

If you’re ready to level up, grab a copy of Atomic Habits by James Clear. Sis, this book reminded me that goals are cute, but systems are where the magic happens. Goals give you direction, but systems give you momentum.

It’s the little habits—like preparing for your week on Sunday, packing your lunch the night before, or setting out your workout clothes—that build consistency. Small wins stack up to big victories. I’m actually overdue to reread it because it’s one of those books that keeps on giving.

Financial Freedom is the Move, Sis!

Financial literacy is the flex we all need. Learning to budget, save, and invest has completely changed my outlook on money. I’ll Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi is an amazing read if you’re just getting started. And don’t sleep on the Rich Habits podcast—it’s full of gems that make financial freedom feel doable.

When you start budgeting, Sis, you realize it’s not about restriction—it’s about freedom. You’re planning for your future self, and she’s going to thank you for it.

Mental Health Days and Weekend Retreats Are Giving

Listen, we can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking intentional rest has been another win for me in my 30s. Whether it’s a mental health day or creating a mini home retreat, I make time to recharge. A candle, a cozy blanket, my favorite book, and some good tea? Instant reset.

As Matthew 11:28 (KJV) says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Sis, rest is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. When you rest, you show up better for yourself, your loved ones, and your dreams.

As I step into 31, I’m carrying these lessons with me. Life isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. I’m grateful for the journey, the growth, and the grace that’s carried me through.

Now it’s your turn, Sis—what’s one win you’re celebrating from this year? Drop it in the comments. Let’s celebrate together because we’re all about that Rooted and Resilient life over here.

Here’s to growth and glowing into this next chapter.

Cheers, Sis!
