Hey friend!!
Let’s kick this weekend off with a little heart-to-heart, shall we? Maybe you’ve stumbled onto this blog and you’re wondering, “What in the world is Rooted & Resilient?” Or maybe you’ve been rocking with me since the beginning and you’re like, “Auntie, remind me again why we’re here?” Either way, let’s break it down.
Rooted & Resilient is more than a blog; it’s a community. It’s your safe space to breathe, laugh, cry, and grow. Think of it as the virtual couch where we curl up with a warm cup of tea and talk about life, faith, motherhood, and everything in between.
Rooted: Where We’re Planted
First things first—being rooted is all about having a strong foundation. And for us? That foundation is God. Life will try to shake you, but when you’re planted in the Word, you won’t topple over.
Psalm 1:3 (KJV) puts it beautifully:
“They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.”
Doesn’t that sound like the life we’re trying to live? Even when the storms come (and oh, they will), we stay planted.
For me, being rooted means knowing who I am and whose I am—especially on those tough days when being a single mom and a nurse feels like a never-ending marathon. It’s leaning on my faith when I’m running on fumes and holding tight to my purpose, even when life feels like it’s doing the absolute most.
Resilient: Bouncing Back Like a Boss
Okay, let’s be real—life isn’t always sunshine and smooth sailing. There are days when it feels like the world is tag-teaming you: work drama, kids acting up, and don’t even get me started on trying to keep a house in order. But resilience? That’s our secret sauce. It’s our ability to take the hits and keep going.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV) reminds us:
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Sis, if that isn’t our anthem, I don’t know what is. Resilience isn’t about pretending everything is fine; it’s about getting back up, even when you’re down for the count. It’s about giving yourself grace when things don’t go as planned and knowing that every setback is just a setup for a comeback.
Why Rooted & Resilient?
This space was born from my own journey. I’ve been through some things—single motherhood, surviving domestic violence, navigating the craziness of working in healthcare, and learning how to care for myself in the process. Rooted & Resilient is where we keep it real about the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
It’s a place for us to laugh at the ridiculous moments (like when your kid suddenly decides they hate chicken nuggets after living on them for three years) and to cry through the tough ones. It’s where we learn to lean into faith, love on ourselves, and build the kind of resilience that can only come from being deeply rooted in God’s promises.
So, What’s the Goal Here?
The goal is simple: To inspire and empower you. To remind you that you’re not alone. To help you find the beauty in the chaos and the joy in the journey. Whether you’re here for a little encouragement, a good laugh, or some practical gems to make life easier, Rooted & Resilient has got you covered.
Let’s Stay Rooted Together
As you head into the weekend, take a moment to reflect:
What’s keeping you grounded?
What’s helping you bounce back? And if you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay—that’s why we’re here, friend!
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) is my go-to reminder:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
This is your reminder to trust the process, lean into your faith, and know that you’ve got everything you need to face whatever comes your way.
So grab your tea, put on some comfy socks, and let’s do this life thing together.
Welcome to Rooted & Resilient—you belong here.
