Hey Girl heyyyy!
It’s the start of a brand-new week, September is wrapping up, and Fall is Fallin’, okkieeee! And listen, just like our edges, we HAVE to stay close to the Word of God if we’re going to keep it all together.
This week we’re talking about something every mama, especially us Nurse Moms, struggles with: time scarcity. You know the line….“There’s not enough time in the day!” Sis, I’ve said it too! But here’s the truth: what if we could shift from a mindset of scarcity to one of abundance? What if instead of chasing time, we stewarded it?
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
That means time is already in our favor—we just need to manage it with wisdom and intention.
Step One: Take Inventory
Before you change anything, I want you to try something this week.
- Write down everything you wish you could get done this week. (That’s your “wish list.”)
- Then, each day, jot down everything you actually did. Don’t leave anything out, even the unexpected things.
By Friday, compare your lists. I bet you’ll see that while you may only have crossed off two things from your “wish list,” you actually completed a million little things you didn’t plan for. That’s not failure, that’s motherhood and nursing life! But guess what? We can still make space for the things that matter most to you!
Step Two: Time Blocking 101
Sis, let me put you on to my favorite life hack: time blocking.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A planner (I love Passion Planner… they’re hourly, and the company gives back to charities).
- Colorful pens/markers.
- A timer
Here’s how it works:
- Set your weekly goals. Write them down before the week starts.
- Color code your life.
- One color for work.
- One for school/study.
- One for kids.
- One for self-care.
- One for fun.
- One for errands/appointments.
- Block out self-care DAILY. IDC if it’s only 15 minutes morning and night. you pencil it in because you are worth it. Period.
Step Three: Beat the Clock
This is where it gets fun. Once you’ve blocked your time, set a timer for each task.
- 30 minutes for laundry? Set it. Fold like you’re racing the buzzer!
- Study session? Focus till that alarm goes off.
- Even clocking out of work. When the time is up, hands up!
You’ll be shocked at how much time you free up when you respect your own schedule.
Step Four: Protect Your Boundaries
Whew, this one is for my social butterflies. Friends are amazing, but if you don’t set limits, that “quick lunch” turns into an all-day hangout, and suddenly you’re behind.
Try this: “I’d love to catch up, but I only have 12–2pm free.” Boom. That’s love + boundary.
And if you’ve got a girls’ day? Rearrange your other tasks for another day so you don’t end up overwhelmed. The goal here isn’t just to “do it all,” but to feel balanced.
A Gentle Reminder!
Sis, time is a gift.
God has already given us enough of it to do what matters. With a little planning, some colorful pens, and a whole lot of grace, you can shift from feeling like there’s never enough time… to realizing you actually have more than enough!
So let’s step into this week with intention. Your to-do list doesn’t own you. You own it.
Affirmation of the Week
“I have enough time for what God has called me to do. I move in peace, not pressure.”
Have a great week, Sis!
