Time Management & Habit Stacking for Women Who Wear Two Capes

Mom. Nurse. Believer. Sis… that’s already a full résumé.

Hey girly!!
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re wearing two capes every single day (one for motherhood and one for nursing) And let me tell you, that combo is NOT for the weak. Between work schedules, charting, school drop-offs, dinners, homework, laundry, prayer time (or lack thereof ), it can feel like the day is already over before you even get started.

So this week, we’re talking about time management and habit stacking NOT in a “do more” way, but in a do smarter, with grace kind of way.

First Things First: Time Management Isn’t About Perfection

Let’s clear this up right now, sis.
Time management isn’t about having every minute planned or waking up at 4 AM every day (unless that’s your thing ). It’s about intentionality.

As nurse moms, our time is limited, valuable, and often interrupted. The goal isn’t to control everything … it’s to control what you can and build systems that support your season.

What Is Habit Stacking (and Why Nurse Moms Need It)?

Habit stacking is simply attaching a new habit to something you already do consistently.

Think of it as piggybacking … because sis, you don’t have time to start from scratch.

Examples of Habit Stacking for Nurse Moms

  • Pray while your coffee brews
  • Stretch while your child brushes their teeth
  • Listen to scripture or a podcast during your commute
  • Journal one sentence before bed instead of scrolling

Small actions. Repeated daily. Big results over time.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
Luke 16:10 (NIV)

Time Management Tips for Moms Who Are Also RNs

Here are some realistic, grace-filled ways to manage your time this week:

1. Plan Your Week Before It Plans You

Take 10–15 minutes to look at your schedule. Block off:

  • Work shifts
  • Kid responsibilities
  • Rest time (yes, schedule rest)

White space matters just as much as busy time.

2. Anchor Your Day With 1–2 Non-Negotiables

Not a long to-do list. Just one or two things that matter most.
When those get done, the day is already a win.

3. Stack Habits Instead of Adding Tasks

Instead of saying “I need more time,” ask: What can I attach this to?

That mindset shift changes everything.

Reflection Questions (Grab Your Journal!)

Take a few moments with these questions this week:

  • Where do I feel most rushed or overwhelmed during my day?
  • What is one habit I already do consistently?
  • What small habit can I stack onto that routine?
  • Where is God inviting me to slow down instead of speed up?

Let these reflections guide your systems .. not guilt!

Sis, Grace Is Part of the Process

Some weeks will flow beautifully.
Other weeks will feel chaotic and loud.
Both are allowed.

Remember:
You are a mother doing her best.
You are a nurse learning and growing.
You are a woman God is still shaping.

Progress > perfection, always.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Prayer for the Week

Father God,
Thank You for my sis who is juggling motherhood, nursing, and faith all at once. You see her effort, her exhaustion, and her heart. This week, help her manage her time with wisdom, not pressure. Show her where to simplify, where to slow down, and where to stack habits that bring peace. Cover her home, her work, and her mind with Your grace. Let her feel supported, capable, and confident in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Thoughts!!!

Sis, you don’t need more hours … you need better systems and more grace. One habit at a time. One week at a time. One prayer at a time.

You’ve got this. And I’m rooting for you, always!!!

With Love
