Rediscovering Your Self-Worth as a New Nurse Mom

Post at a Glance!

Christian encouragement for new nurse moms navigating nursing school or the start of their career. Learn how to rebuild self-worth, set boundaries, and grow in faith.

Let’s Get Started, Sis!

I hope you’re doing well and had a beautiful holiday weekend. I had the BEST time connecting with family and friends…. listen, a great time was had! Now that we’re settling back into our routines, let’s get into this week’s topic, because whew… it’s one that hits home for so many of us.

This week, we’re talking about SELF-WORTH.
Sis… this one is near and dear to my heart, because for YEARS I struggled with it. And honestly? I didn’t even realize how deeply it was affecting my motherhood, my nursing journey, and my walk with Christ.

But something shifted. Through inner work, prayer, journaling, and a whole lot of Jesus… it finally clicked.
And now I want to help it click for you too.

Let’s Be Real for a Moment…

If you are:

  • in nursing school
  • starting your first nursing job
  • juggling motherhood
  • trying to hold everything together

…then you already know what it feels like to be stretched paper thin.

And sometimes… that’s where the enemy comes in whispering lies:

“You’re behind.”
“You’re not doing enough.”
“You’re failing as a mom.”
“You’re not cut out for nursing.”
“You need to put yourself last, again.”

But sis, let me speak truth over you today:

YOU are worthy, called, and equipped by God. Right where YOU are.

Even if you feel overwhelmed.
Even if you’re exhausted.
Even if you don’t recognize yourself some days.

Your worth has NEVER been tied to your productivity, your grades, or how perfectly you juggle life. Your worth is tied to WHO created YOU.

Scripture for Your Week

Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Sis… God didn’t make a mistake with you.
He didn’t skip over you, forget you, or overlook you.
You are wonderfully made, even in this busy season.

What Self-Worth LOOKED Like for Me (before healing)

Let me tell on myself for a second because we’re family here:

I lacked boundaries
I said yes to everything
I gave my best to everyone else
I invested nothing into my own emotional or spiritual health
I did the bare minimum for myself
I didn’t believe I deserved rest, connection, or peace

If any of this hits home… sis, I need you to hear me clearly:

This is a safe place.
You’re not alone.
And I strongly encourage speaking with a mental health counselor if you feel overwhelmed or depleted.

Healing is holy work.
And God wants you whole.

Practical Ways to Rebuild Your Self-Worth This Month

Let’s keep it surface-level for now (because yes, we will go deeper this month).
Here are a few habits that helped me reconnect with my worth:

1. Establish a gentle AM + PM routine

Nothing dramatic.
Just something to ground your spirit : prayer, soft worship music, stretching, journaling, or reading a verse.

2. Journal your thoughts & prayers

Dump it. Release it. Clear mental clutter.
God meets you in the quiet.

3. Prioritize your calendar

Sis, look at your month and literally schedule:
1. rest
2. walks
3. downtime
4. coffee dates
5. silence
6. connection

If you don’t put YOU on your calendar… the month will eat you alive.

4. Limit screen time before bed

Your nervous system deserves peace, not TikTok chaos.

5. Give yourself permission to receive help

Real talk: You’re not weaker for needing support, you’re human.

Prayer for Your Week

Father,
Thank You for every nurse mom reading this today.
Thank You for the calling You placed inside her. The compassion, the strength, the resilience, and the heart to care for others.
Lord, remind her of her worth. Remind her that she is Your daughter first before she is anyone else’s anything.
Strengthen her mind, steady her spirit, and fill her with peace.
Surround her with community, rest, and divine protection in every shift, every class, every exam, and every moment of motherhood.
Help her set boundaries, prioritize herself, and walk boldly in her God-given identity.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, before you go…

I’m proud of you.
You’re doing better than you think.
And this year?
We are walking in WORTHINESS. Not survival mode.

With Love,

Sanjé
