Happy Monday Nurse Mom!
Welcome back to another Monday encouragement for my amazing moms who are stepping into (or surviving!) these early nursing career years. I know this season is BUSY. Between work, kids, schedules, holidays, and life moving at turbo speed, sometimes it feels like the days blur together.
But it’s in seasons like this, the chaotic, the fast-paced, the overwhelming ….that gratitude becomes one of the most powerful anchors we have.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, I wanted to slow things down with you for a moment and talk about the heart posture that helps us stand firm, breathe deeper, and remember the goodness of God even on the long, exhausting days.
Why Gratitude Matters So Much Right Now
Gratitude isn’t just a “cute idea” for the holidays. It’s a spiritual discipline.
As nurse moms, we give so much. Our minds are focused on tasks, our hearts are stretched thin, and our feet are literally running from sunup to sundown. Gratitude pulls us back into alignment. It re-centers us on what’s true, what’s working, and what God is doing even when we feel rushed or worn out.
Gratitude is grounding.
Gratitude is stabilizing.
Gratitude is spiritual protection in a season that tries to steal your peace.
Here Are the Two Practices That Have Kept Me Grounded
1. I Write Down 5 Gratitudes in the Morning + 5 at Night
This simple routine has changed everything for me.
In the morning, it sets my intention before the day begins!
At night, it resets my spirit, reminding me that even on the long days, God’s hand was still on me, guiding, covering, and helping me through.
Your gratitudes don’t have to be deep or profound. Some days mine look like:
- “Hot coffee that I didn’t have to reheat.”
- “My child’s laughter.”
- “Strength to get through today’s shift.”
- “A patient who reminded me why I do this.”
- “Peace waiting for me at home.”
Gratitude opens your eyes to blessings you walked past all day.
2. I Make It a Point to Appreciate or Acknowledge Someone Every Day
Sis, never underestimate the power of your words.
One kind word to a peer.
A simple “thank you” to a tech, a secretary, or another nurse.
A compliment to another mom.
A moment to acknowledge your child, even in the rush.
Speaking life into others not only blesses them, it keeps you grounded and connected.
As nurses, we see so much.
As moms, we feel so much.
A daily expression of gratitude is a way to pour out intentionally so you don’t feel drained unintentionally.
Plus, appreciation is contagious. Your one moment of gratitude can shift the atmosphere of an entire unit.
A Scripture to Hold Close This Week
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
Not for all circumstances…
In all circumstances.
Even in the busy.
Even in the tired.
Even in the unknown.
As We Enter This Thanksgiving Week…
I pray that gratitude becomes your calm in the chaos, your grounding in the whirlwind, and your reminder that God is present in every detail, from the smallest blessing to the biggest breakthrough.
Take a breath, sis.
Look around.
Notice the goodness.
There is so much more to be grateful for than you realize.
You are Rooted.
You are Resilient.
You are covered.
And you are doing an AMAZING job!
With Love,
Sanjé
