Hey sis!!
It’s that time again!
Let’s kick off this week together. I want to talk about something that hit me like a slice of humble pie during my Bible study: the waiting room.
If I’m being honest, I’ve always been the type to chase the next thing. You know the vibe—”Okay, I made it to this step, now what’s next?” It’s that constant push to be there instead of fully being here. And chile, it’s easy to fall into that cycle, especially as a nurse.
You might be starting out on the unit thinking:
- “I want to be charge nurse one day.”
- “I’m planning to go back for my MSN or NP.”
- “I need to climb the ladder fast.”
And listen, I love that for you! You can absolutely do all the things God has put on your heart. But here’s what I want to encourage you with this week: don’t despise your waiting room.
The waiting room is not wasted time. It’s where confidence gets built. It’s where your character deepens. It’s where God whispers, “Daughter, I see you. Be still, and know that I am God” ,Psalm 46:10 (NIV).
While you’re working toward your next step, don’t forget to celebrate where you are right now.
Here are a few things that have helped me:
- Jot down 3 gratitudes at the end of the day. Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s already present.
- Block time in the morning and evening for self-care. Even if it’s just 10 minutes with coffee and Jesus, or winding down with prayer and journaling.
- Make it a weekly habit to check in with someone you love. Don’t let busyness put you into isolation; community is one of the greatest gifts God gives us.
Remember sis: your career is WHAT you do, not WHO you are.
Nursing is a calling, but your identity is rooted in Christ. Be gentle with yourself, prioritize what matters, and embrace your waiting room with confidence, because it’s not just a pause, it’s preparation.
Affirmation for the Week!
“I am confident in the season God has me in. The waiting room is not wasted. I am growing, I am rooted, and I am ready for what’s next in His timing.”
Have a great week!
Sanjé
