Hi Sis! I’m Sanje – proud creator of Rooted and Resilient.
I’ve been a nurse since 2016, with a background in mental health, med/surg–telemetry, outpatient palliative care, and nursing professional development. I’ve seen a lot—from working in corrections to sitting at tables with directors.
I created this space because I remember what it was like starting my nursing journey while being a new mom. It was exciting… and overwhelming. I didn’t see many people talking about faith, motherhood, and nursing together—so I started this blog to be the emotional support I needed back then.
If you’re a mom considering nursing school, this post is for you. I’m answering some of the most common questions I get, while encouraging you to walk into this season with faith, structure, and self-compassion. It’s not easy—but it’s worth it.
1. Can I really do nursing school while raising kids?
Absolutely—but it will require planning, boundaries, and a whole lot of grace. Nursing school is rigorous, but being a mom has already trained you in resilience. Routines, supportive community, and resting in God’s strength will help you thrive.
Philippians 4:13 (NIV): “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
2. What type of nursing program works best for moms?
Look into part-time, evening, hybrid, or accelerated programs—whatever best fits your schedule and responsibilities. Some moms do best with in-person structure, while others need the flexibility of online components.
Bonus Tip: Meet with a school advisor and ask if they’ve had other mothers in the program and what support was offered.
3. How do I balance school, motherhood, and faith?
Balance comes from rhythm, not perfection.
Try this simple weekly structure:
- Mornings: Devotion + prep
- Afternoons: Study blocks with breaks
- Evenings: Family time + quick reflection
- Sundays: Rest, church, and planning your week
Even short moments with God throughout the day matter. Whisper prayers, listen to worship, and lean on your Source.
Matthew 6:33 (NIV): “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
4. How can I manage guilt when I feel like I’m not doing “enough”?
This is real. But sis, God called you to this path, and His grace covers you. You’re planting seeds of generational change. Give yourself permission to not be perfect and to grow slowly. That’s powerful.
Romans 8:1 (NIV): “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
5. What are practical ways to stay organized as a student mom?
- Use a planner or app to block your time
- Prep meals in bulk
- Set a study “zone” at home
- Rotate childcare with trusted friends or family
- Find community! Follow me on Instagram!
6. What’s something you wish someone told you before starting?
That nursing is more than a job—it’s a ministry. And that God isn’t just interested in your degree—He’s working on your heart, your mindset, and your future legacy.
Listen Here Girly!
You’re not behind. You’re being prepared.
You’re not too old. You’re right on time.
You’re not alone. You’re covered.
Give yourself space to grow and grace to stumble. And remember, God doesn’t waste the wait—He’s building something beautiful in you.
My Prayer for You!
Father God,
Thank You for the mom reading this. You know her fears, her fatigue, and her deep desire to build a better future. Strengthen her faith in this season of becoming. Surround her with encouragement, resources, and favor. When she’s tired, remind her she’s not alone. Fill her with peace, purpose, and holy confidence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
