Hey Sis, Take a Breath
Last week was all about breaking the cycle of overwhelm, this week we’re stepping into something even deeper: self-doubt. That quiet (or sometimes LOUD) voice in your head that questions everything—your timing, your purpose, your progress, your enough-ness.
Let’s be honest. Self-doubt is sneaky. It doesn’t always scream—it whispers in between patient rounds, while folding laundry, or when you’re scrolling on social media and start comparing your life to highlight reels. But this week, we’re shining light on that voice and replacing it with truth.
Your Brain Is Trying to Protect You… But Sis, You’re Safe Now
One of the biggest mindset traps we face after living in survival mode is not even our fault—it’s neurological. Our brains are wired to protect us. Every time we try to step outside of our comfort zone, that little warning voice pops up:
“What if you fail?”
“What if people judge you?”
“It’s safer to stay right here…”
And while that voice feels like wisdom, it’s really your nervous system doing what it’s always done: trying to keep you safe from pain.
But sis—you’re not in survival mode anymore.
You’ve done the hard work. You’ve escaped the trauma.
You’re healing now. You’re safe.
And so now? It’s time to retrain your brain with truth.
Reframing Is a Spiritual Skill
Romans 12:2 (NIV) says:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Reframing is just that: renewing your mind through practice.
It’s not about toxic positivity. It’s about truth.
Here’s a few simple reframes you can try this week:
- Instead of: “I always mess things up.”
Say: “I am learning, and I’m allowed to grow without shame.” - Instead of: “I don’t have time to rest.”
Say: “Rest is part of my rhythm, not a reward.” - Instead of: “I’ll never get this right.”
Say: “GOD is still working in me, and I will see this through.”
Faith Over Fear
Here’s the truth: self-doubt can’t survive where faith is fed.
James 1:6 (NIV) says:
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
Every time you choose faith—whether that’s praying through a hard moment, journaling instead of spiraling, or simply reminding yourself, “GOD’s got me”—you are starving your doubt and feeding your faith.
Your confidence doesn’t have to come from you—it comes from the one who made you. GOD doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. And sis, you’ve been called.
Try This: A Gentle Challenge for the Week
- Name Your Doubt: Write down the area where you feel stuck or unsure.
- Find the Truth: Find a Bible verse that speaks to that fear. Tape it to your mirror.
- Reframe the Thought: Every time the doubt creeps in, say the truth out loud.
Thought to Carry This Week
What if the thing you’re resisting is the very thing GOD is using to restore you?
Final Thoughts & A Little Prayer Just for You!
Sis, the fact that you’re here reading this means you are already doing the work. That tug on your heart? That’s GOD guiding you. He sees your late nights, your tired mornings, your unspoken prayers.
You are not falling behind. You are being built up. One brick at a time.
My prayer just for you!
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for my sister who is reading this right now. Thank You for her resilience, her love, her faith—even when it feels small. Lord, I ask that You remind her who she is in You. Silence every voice that tells her she isn’t enough and replace it with Your truth. Help her to step boldly into the life You’ve designed for her. Remind her that she is not behind. She is exactly where she needs to be. Surround her with love, support, and peace as she moves through this week. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You’ve got this!
