Hey Sis!!!!
If you’re reading this during your 15-minute break at the nurse’s station or while hiding in the bathroom for some peace and quiet — I see you. I feel you. I am you. You’ve been holding it all together with a smile and a prayer, but let’s be real — you’re running on fumes and caffeine.
But hear me clearly: You are not weak. You are wise. And God is ready to hold you up when you’re too tired to stand.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
The Silent Struggle We Don’t Talk About
The world will have you out here thinking you’ve got to be Superwoman — raising babies, clocking long shifts, healing from heartbreak, and somehow still showing up to church looking like you slept a full 8 hours. (Sis… be for real.)
But that’s survival mode, and we’re not staying there. We’re stepping into a new season — a season of rest, recovery, and reconnection with who God called us to be.
Why You’re Still So Tired (Even When You’re Doing “All the Things”)
You’ve got the planner, the verses on sticky notes, the meal prep, the bedtime prayers. And yet — you’re still exhausted. That’s because you’ve been doing it all in your own strength, mama.
And the truth is — you don’t have to.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Let that sink in. Jesus didn’t say, “Come to me once your house is spotless and the laundry is folded.” He said, come as you are. Tired, overwhelmed, undone. There’s room for you right at His feet.
Your Brain is Trying to Protect You (But You Gotta Reframe That Thinking)
After trauma, your brain’s job is to keep you safe. It remembers the pain and tries to shield you from anything that feels even a little uncomfortable — including rest. Because rest feels unfamiliar. Vulnerable. Risky.
So when you slow down, your mind might whisper:
- “If you rest, everything will fall apart.”
- “You don’t deserve to relax.”
- “Nobody’s going to catch you if you drop the ball.”
Sound familiar? Yeah, me too. But sis, you can learn to reframe those thoughts.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)
It’s not easy, but it’s possible. Start by speaking truth to yourself every day: I am safe now. I don’t have to hustle for God’s love. Rest is not laziness — it’s wisdom.
What Rest Looks Like (For the Nurse Mama Healing from Trauma)
Let’s be clear: rest isn’t just sleeping in on your day off (though that helps!). It’s about reclaiming your peace. It’s choosing to say:
- “No” to chaos and “yes” to boundaries
- “No” to guilt and “yes” to grace
- “No” to striving and “yes” to simply being
Rest is:
- Letting the dishes wait
- Playing gospel music while folding laundry and dancing with your baby
- Taking that long, silent shower where you just cry and let it all out
- Watching a sunset with your phone on Do Not Disturb
And yes — asking for help. Whether it’s calling your friend or family member, hiring a cleaning service, or leaning on a therapist — asking for help doesn’t make you weak. It makes you wise.

A Prayer for the Overwhelmed Mama
Father God,
Thank You for the precious mama reading this. You see every tear she hasn’t cried, every burden she’s quietly carried, and every prayer she’s whispered through tired lips. Strengthen her, Lord. Wrap her in Your perfect peace. Teach her to rest without guilt and trust that You’re holding it all together — not her. Remind her that even when she feels invisible, she is known, loved, and chosen.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You’re Doing Better Than You Think
You are not failing. You’re growing. You’re healing. You’re doing the holy, messy work of raising babies and rebuilding your soul. And that, sis, is kingdom work.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” – Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
You don’t have to earn rest — it’s your inheritance as a daughter of the King.
So take a deep breath, grab that cup of tea, and give yourself permission to slow down.
You’ve made it this far — and baby girl, you’re just getting started.
